ANCIENT OUTDOOR HISTORY:
On opening day, Donald Shannon landed a speckled trout on Springville Pond that weighed two and one-quarter pounds. S.E. Carley came home with six trout averaging a pound apiece, caught on Spring Lake in the town of Amherst. (Stevens Point Journal, May 2, 1931)
